From classroom chalk to founding a school. Mrs. Mirichu’s journey is proof that purpose never retires.
This is Mrs. Mirichu. Our unforgettable Science, English, CRE, and Art & Craft teacher 👏🏾! Her chalkboard charm, no-nonsense cane, and counseling wisdom shaped more than just our report cards.
On February 12, 2022, we gathered.
Ruai Primary alumni, Unity Primary graduates, and pioneers of Josnah Primary School attended. It was a heartwarming reunion. This event turned into a triple crown of honor for a woman whose impact ripples across decades.
Mrs. Mirichu left Ruai Primary in 1996 after a vibrant 6-year stint. She then went on (a stone’s throwaway) to start her own school, Josnah Primary. .
But her teaching legacy? It began in 1980 and hasn’t stopped since! That’s over four decades of molding minds, correcting grammar, and instilling values. With the occasional smack of the cane for punctuation 🫣.
In her 20s, she walked away from a secure civil service job.
She felt called to teach. Not employed. Called. Over the years, she has consistently challenged deep-rooted parental mindsets. Called out mediocrity. And built dreams with little more than faith and a firm voice.
Even after losing her beloved husband in 2021, she stays committed to her purpose. She teaches with quiet resilience and warmth. These qualities only deep grief and deep faith can birth.
Her memory is razor-sharp
Recalling not just our names, but those of our siblings and parents. I mean, who does that after more than 20 years?
We laughed about childhood mischief. Revisited classroom stories. And celebrated the woman who turned caning into character development (😂).
The highlight?
Her heartfelt message reminding us to “rise above limitations and become voices of reason and restoration in today’s society.” Goosebumps.
And yes, there was food! We broke bread, literally and shared stories over a warm lunch. Some things change, but the joy of a full belly and full heart? Timeless.
Seeing former classmates now turned parents, professionals, and even teachers themselves was surreal. But what stood out most? The deep gratitude in the air.
This wasn’t just a reunion. It was a full-circle moment.
Mrs. Mirichu, thank you for believing in a generation of students before we even knew what we could become.
Your legacy lives in every lesson, every story, and every former pupil who walked out of your class standing taller.
#ISawTheLord (Isaiah 6:1), but on this day, we saw His servant too.
