Because some teachers don’t just teach. They transform.
There are teachers you remember. Then there are those you simply can’t forget. They are the ones who leave chalk dust on your soul.
Enter Mrs. Wambugu, our beloved Music and Mathematics maestro 🎶➕.
She joined Ruai Primary School back in 1993.
Nearly three decades later, she still stands tall. She is now the Deputy Head Teacher at our Alma mater.
She wasn’t just a Math teacher.
She made numbers dance and equations sing. Who else could make pi (π) feel poetic? She once broke it down. She literally drew circles and walked us through circumference and diameter.
It was like a TED Talk before TED Talks were a thing.
On April 30, 2022, we returned “home”. Not to relive our childhood, but to honor it. A handful of her former students gathered. Now adults with receding hairlines and rising responsibilities!
To celebrate a woman who helped shape our hearts and heads.
Her reaction? Pure gold.
She was graceful, grateful, and still as sharp as ever. She gave us a moving speech. It was part reflection, part gratitude, and part gentle advice for life.
We shared a hearty lunch. Laughter, seasoning the food better than any spice. The stories? Endless. We joked about chalk stains, choir competitions, forgotten homework, and secret crushes in Class 6.
Then came a moment of deep encouragement as we shared a short sermonette. Reminding us that teachers like Mrs. Wambugu don’t just pass knowledge.
They pass on legacy.
And of course, what’s a proper reunion without class photos?
We broke into groups per year and struck poses that would make any yearbook editor jealous.
Outside of class, Mrs. Wambugu is a woman of many talents.
She runs a crop farm and breeds Chihuahuas. Not for Instagram, but for business. She’s proof that you can be nurturing and enterprising. Disciplined and delightful.
Did we mention she married her high school sweetheart?
Their love story is the kind that makes you believe. LOVE ❤️ ISN’T A SCAM. 😝
