Mwalimu Musinga: Gentle Hands, Giant Heart

From English alphabets to life lessons. She taught us more than what was in the syllabus.

Artistic impression of Mrs. Musinga, in our little eyes

This is Mrs. Musinga 👏. Our Class 1 to 3 teacher at Ruai Primary School, 1990 to 2000. She was calm, composed, and compassionate.

Her presence felt like a lullaby with a hidden iron fist. Just ask Gladys , who learned the hard way that you can’t hide behind tall lies. Or furniture.

She taught us English, Maths, CRE, and Music. Shaping our little minds with big dreams. Yesterday, we reunited as grown-ups with grown stories. We walked down memory lane with her. We celebrated the quiet power of her presence in our earliest academic steps.

Nursing may have been her first dream. Her brothers had other plans. But, teaching turned out to be the mission. And what a mission it was! She poured her heart into our growth, and later, into building her own Morning Glory Academy. 🌅

Her favorite pupil? Mercy Ngunjiri. The Scottish dancer who pirouetted into her heart. And the legends? Tracy wa Mugo. She had a talent for losing books and stretching Mrs. Musinga’s patience like a rubber band in P.E. class.

And yes, there was that fateful day. Gladys tried to hide but was tall as a giraffe in a room full of kindergartners. 😄

Gladys was tall, but couldn’t hide!

Mr. Musinga, ever the wise philosopher, reminded us, “Drunkenness is a budget killer. For both money 💰 and time 🕛.”

Together, they’ve raised six children. They have built a life of love and laughter. They continue to prove that Love isn’t a scam. Just a lifelong investment! ❤️

We honored the woman who helped us spell our first words. She also taught us to sing our first hymns.

🕊️ Bittersweet Goodbye

Our mentor, and guiding light. As I listened to her eulogy, a question quietly echoed within me. Is life only about being born, getting an education, starting a family, working hard, and eventually falling sick? 🤷‍♂️

While death is definite, the more urgent question is: How much LIFE is in your years? Mrs. Musinga’s life was rich. Not in gold or titles. But in love, impact, and quiet influence.

We showed up to bid Mrs. Musinga farewell

She shaped minds and softened hearts. Her legacy lives in every pupil she ever guided. It thrives in every song she taught. Her gifts include every moment of calm she offered us.

We are grateful we brought her flowers 💐 while she could still smell them. We are thankful we laughed with her. Not just about her.
