Established in His Ways — a joyful week where faith blossomed. Memories were made. Children discovered the joy of walking in God’s Word.
🙏 Morning Devotions
We began each day with soul-stirring devotions led by Pastors Albert, Tony, and myself. The children learned early that every choice starts with God’s Word.
📖 Lessons & Aha Moments
Day 1 – Man’s Way vs. God’s Way (Jeremiah 6:16). Children saw the clear contrast between living without God (Eli’s sons) and walking in reverence (Samuel). Aha moment: Fear of God is the start of wisdom.
Day 2 – Humility & Choosing God’s Way (Psalm 25:4–8, Col. 3:1–4). We discovered that God’s way is higher, and humility makes us teachable. Aha moment: Choosing God’s way leads to peace and growth.
Day 3 – Walking in His Light (John 8:31–32). Children learned Jesus is the Light guiding our steps. Aha moment: Following Jesus means living as children of the light.
Day 4 – Established in His Ways (Closing Day). The VBS wrapped with a Kids Concert full of drama, music, and dance. Families witnessed the children shine brightly with their gifts. Josh, was a gift to the dance team.
Dancing to the tunes of Lord, You Are Great and You Way’s Better. The kids scripted and acted their own play, titled: Faith Over Fear. Aha moment: God’s way is a journey, not a one-day event.
🎶 Praise & Worship
Guest minister Eric, led sessions that had the tent vibrating with praise, laughter, and joy. Songs became prayers. Even the shyest kids joined in.
For a long time to come, our kids will sing, Show Us The Ancient Paths and God’s Way.
Later in the day, Eric gathered a small group of children. Mentored them on how to grow their gifts in music 🎶. Helping them discover both skill and joy in worship.
⚽ Fun, Games & Workshops
Afternoons came alive with games, dancing, drawing, drama, and singing workshops. Here, talents were spotted and nurtured.
Fellowship Over Meals
Snacks, lunch, and laughter were shared daily.
These meals reminded us that God provides, and community strengthens us.
Registration & Growth
From 150 to over 200 children, VBS grew daily. Teens and young adults joined as volunteers and facilitators. Proving that when God moves, He multiplies.
🌍 Reflections – What We Learned
- Children: God’s way is full of light, peace, and wisdom.
- Facilitators: Serving in VBS grows our own faith as much as the children’s. Annabel, from CITAM Buruburu was a great addition.
- Volunteers: Every hand matters – from games, to meals, to clean-up, to worship.
💡 We can enhance VBS’ impact by involving parents in every stage, from planning to closing. We can create follow-up discipleship groups. Integrating child talents into regular church life will also help.
💬 Closing Thoughts
VBS 2025 showed us that God’s Way vs. Man’s Way is not just a theme. It’s the daily choice we all face. Our children are choosing well, and our church is brighter because of it.
Acknowledgments
VBS 2025 was a success because of the collective effort, dedication, and prayer of many.
We gratefully acknowledge Rev. Albert and the pastoral team, who guided and resourced the plans. They faithfully led the morning devotions, fuelled us with prayers throughout the week and attended the Kids Concert.
Special thanks to our VBS planning team co-leads, Charles and Regina. Their creativity shaped skits and the timely theme “God’s Ways versus Man’s Ways.” This was in line with the church’s 2025 focus, “Established in His Ways.”
Their thoughtful design of lessons and crafts gave children a solid journey. They started from Learning God’s Ways (Day 1) and concluded with Choosing God’s Ways (Day 3). We now think of the traffic lights, with new lenses.
We are indebted to the Church Administration and Set-up Teams. They ensured that the logistical needs of the VBS were fully met. They provided clean and sufficient spaces, tents, and media support.
They also took care of hall arrangements and clean-up. This effort created an environment where God’s Word and children’s talents could flourish.
Our appreciation also goes to the Children’s Hospitality Team. They prepared and served meals with excellence. Over 200 children were well-fed daily. Their tireless service in cooking, serving, and cleaning reflected Christ’s love in action.
We honor the commitment of over 30 facilitators and volunteers.
They taught and guided games. Additionally, they ran talent workshops in music, drawing, dancing, and drama. Their service made the lessons come alive in creative and memorable ways.
Finally, we thank the parents and church members for their support. They supported us by purchasing merchandise. They helped with fundraising and in-kind contribution to the “food basket list.”
They also volunteered on different days.
Brought and picked up their children. And attended the Kids Concert. Their encouragement pushed us to reach our fundraising goals and ensured the children experienced a rich and joyful VBS.
Indeed, this VBS reminded us that the ministry of planting and watering God’s Word is a shared effort. As Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 3:6, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.”
